“Waves of Night Sea” 20×40 cm
€ 225,00A striking one-of-a-kind sculptural wall art installation, created on a wooden panel (20×40 cm, 7 cm deep). This piece captures the raw beauty and mystery of the night sea through intricate textures and shimmering tones.
Each wave is hand-sculpted using specialty fabric, modeling pastes, and layers of gesso, then carefully polished for a smooth yet dimensional finish. The surface is painted with multiple layers of holographic chameleon acrylics, shifting between deep navy blue and iridescent purple, creating an enchanting play of light.
At its heart lies a natural oyster shell, hand-painted and adorned with a pearl, embedded into the artwork and secured under a layer of crystal-clear resin. This process not only enhances depth and brilliance but also ensures durability and protection.
The piece is varnished multiple times, making it easy to clean with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth (avoid detergents). Both resin and varnish protect the surface and preserve its timeless beauty.
Signed on the edge and back, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

Each natural oyster shell is sustainably collected from the shores of Zeeland, where it is carefully cleaned, prepared, and individually hand-painted by me. The shell is mounted on a heavily textured canvas, that depicts a contemporary seascape handpainted with acrylic paints.
The natural oyster seashell is painted pearl white and varnished as well as canvas.
A faux pearl has been carefully incorporated into the design.
Thanks to its compact size, this artwork is perfect for adding a refined artistic accent to smaller spaces such as a kitchen, bathroom, hallway, bedroom, or as part of a gallery wall.

Five Gilded Zeeuws Oyster Shells

This one-of-a-kind artwork features five natural oyster shells mounted on a hand-painted canvas. One shell contains a freshwater pearl.
The edges of the canvas are finished with a textured paste, adding extra depth and character. The artwork has been coated with five layers of protective varnish, giving it a beautifully smooth finish while protecting it for years to come.
The canvas can be hung in two different orientations, with hanging hooks already attached. It is signed on the reverse.

This piece is a natural oyster shell, showing the beauty of nature, hand-painted in a modern style and decorated with faux gold flakes. Installed on hand-painted canvas with a texture creating an interesting surface on which the light plays beautifully.
This unique shell can be an eye-catching decoration at the reception desk of a hotel, restaurant or cafe. It will be perfect as a wedding, anniversary or birthday gift, as a vessel for wedding rings and jewelry, or simply as an independent, one-of-a-kind artwork.
Materials used: oyster shell, cotton canvas, acrylic paints, gold leaf, metallic wax pastes, mounting glue, final varnish.
If you want to dust off this artwork; clean it gently with a dry cotton or microfiber cloth. Do not use any cleaning agents.
More about my process of painting these shells is as follows:
- They were collected on the beaches of Zeeland in the Netherlands. The exception are St Jacob scallops, which I usually buy in a fish shop.
- Later they were cleaned and ozonated to remove any unwanted odor.
- Then they were covered with a layer of gesso primer.
- Once the primer had dried, they were ready to be painted using high quality acrylic paints, often requiring 2-4 coats.
- The acrylic layers were covered with metallic wax paste.
- Finally, they were varnished to protect the colors for many decades.
